Flying with arm in plaster

Also posting in 'Health'.

In a nutshell, broke wrist 2 weeks ago. Flying to France on thursday. Got full cast put on today and stupidly didn't think to mention flight until at hosp today. have now looked at ryanair (i know, i know!) website and they want doctor's 'fit to fly' note (simple enough) and a split cast if plastered within 48 hours of flight. Well, it's about 46.5 hours and i think it would be better to split it, even with all the faff involved.

What i want to know is, how do they split the cast? do the cut the existing cast or completely replace this one with an incomplete one? Then presumably that stays for the duration of the holiday, and i get a full cast put on again when i get home.

Has anyone else been there? I searched for relevant threads and they all seemed to be quite old.

Cheers me dears!
