Ok I'm planning a weekend for my best pal and me so we need cheap city centre accomodation, (not a hostel I don't fancy a 10 bed mixed dorm). Great places to eat, I like Italian and buffets. Good pubs with a bit of dancing or merryment.

I know Temple Bar area is good for nights but is this where the best shopping is, I like markets, thrift shops and unusual, not designer or chain store.

We will be going with Ryan Air for 99p hopefully, how do you get from airport to centre, shuttle bus?

Balls bridge

Try to get Temple Bar ... it'll probably be pretty noisy but you are right next to the shops - well a short walk to Grafton Street and even shorter to O'Connell and Henry Street (those are the main shopping areas). I think Bewleys Hotel in Temple Bar is okay. Haven't stayed there myself but friend has - think it's quite basic but fine - they probably have a website. Ballsbridge is nice but limited for eating and a good 20-30 min walk from city centre. Enjoy yourselves!!

Yeah there's a bus that drops you off in the City Centre.

I stayed in Jury's Inn, Christchurch. Rrrrrrrreally nice, only a short walk to Temple Bar and theres alos a pub within the hotel. HAVE FUN, It's MENTAL there!

My dad was born in Balls Bridge (a bit of useless info)

We went to Dublin early this month and stayed at a hotel near Temble Bar in Dublin 2. It was every much walking distance to everywhere. The hotel was really good. Nothing special in terms of fancy stuff, but big, spacious, clean rooms, bigish wetroom type bathroom. EWach bedroom had a large kingsize bed, a single bed plus a double sofa bed. Breakfast was included - could have full Irish, continential, etc. There was a bar downstairs from hotel which looked like a good evening out - had DD so didn't sample! And despite having live music on, tnight time was great. |Music stopped so no problems for sleeping.

Wasn't that expensive I don't think either. It was Hardings Hotel on Fishamble Street, Dublin 2 and we booked through Octopus.

Thanks everyone I'm having a look at all thos sugestions and I will let you know how I get on.

At first I was put off hotels right in the centre thinking the noise at night would be a problem then i realised i will be child freee and be the one in the bars making the noise .
