I have never been on long haul with children before - what should i pack for 3 boys on the flight and in disney land. They are 9, 12, 13. We are staying in a hotel.

For the flight they should be happy to watch the many movies, tv channels and computer games available. If not only you know what would keep them amused.
There won't be much need to bring anything on this holiday to entertain them. There is so much to do and see.

The boys will love Gater Land. Not far from Disney. They pull a plucked whole chicken out over the water and a alegator jumps out of the water and snatches it in its jaws!
Sun cream, books, beach towels, swimming trunks and your set.
Have a fantastic time!

Thank you
They will be in their element with the games, movies etc
Do they have them on a charter flight - we are flying with Thomsons

I think so. Have a look at their web site or give them a ring to check. My experience is of scheduled aircraft.

comfy shoes
comfy rucksack
sunhats
factor 50
water bottles

there will be minimal entrtainment on a charter, and you may have to pay for headphones to watch the movie

take ipods / ds as applicable

Get lots of little bits & pieces for them to do on the flight.. places like Wilkinsons & Poundland are great. I am planning ahead for my holiday (3 boys 11, 10 & 8) in October & I have note pads, puzzle books, sticker books - more for the youngest, although I know the others will join in!, sudokus, have made little pads with noughts & crosses grids & 'squares'. Just as extras for when their eyes get square, or the inevitable dead battery moment.
They all have their own lightweight backpacks to put this little lot in & then usually at the airport they all choose a magazine & some sweets to add into it.

We usually find them picking up the bits & bobs at quiet moments during the holiday, taking them in the car etc. & they really are a lifesaver.
You don't say when you are going but I've been putting little bits aside for a couple of months, as I've seen bargains, or things that are a bit different, & we go in October.

Hope that helps. I am a bit of a self confessed Florida Bore, so if you need any other advice, just ask! Grin

Have just come back from 2 weeks in Orlando - it is very hot at the moment! DD(5) ended up wearing her bikini and a wrap skirt to the parks so that she could cool down in the various splash areas (Hollywood Studies did not have one though) plus she could dry out quickly after the water rides. So, for boys, quick dry/rash/reef UV tops and swim shorts would be best.

I took a micro towel with us as that was handy for drying off after the splash rides and less bulky to carry than a real towel.

Flip flops for the water parks - ground far too hot to walk on by around lunchtime - I saw a few people with burned soles.

Oh, and this book: The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger with Len Testa. It gives you "plans" for each park: tells you which rides to do and in what order to cut down on your wait times. Was invaluable.
