Blue Planet - excellent First Aid staff

I just had to put this up in praise of the first aid staff at the Blue Planet aquarium in Ellesmere Port.

I managed to spill a cup of hot tea all over ds2 in the restaurant. I took his top off while my mum alerted the counter staff, who immediately gave her a bag of ice and called a first aider. The first aider arrived within a minute, but in the meantime I had realised that ds2 had also got tea on his legs, which left a big red sore patch on his thigh.

The First Aider was hotly followed by two other staff, who I think were security, and they took us straight to the kitchens and put ds2 into a sink with cold running water. Ds2 was understandably not happy, but the staff checked the scald and told me that they didn't think it was serious but to keep him under the water to reduce the heat. After a couple of minutes the redness had gone, and the staff brought towels to dry him off and gave him a big cup of sweets and a lolly to keep him busy while they did the paperwork.

He made a full recovery within 30 mins, but the staff were just fabulous as I was a bit shocked and was a wreck. I really can't thank them enough, and although I've written them a thank you letter I just thought I'd put this up here too in total and utter praise of the Blue Planet staff.

It may not be a cheap place to visit, but if you're at all accident prone then you'll be well looked after here!

I just can't believe I was stupid enough to leave my hot tea lying around without the lid on.

do u live near ellesmere/chester/north wales then badhair? Have tried a few times to do a meet up but no one ever comes back. Maybe its just me that is ignored.

Glad u were looked after so well and that ds is ok, its sooooo scary when they get hurt isnt it especially when its 'our' fault.

Live in North Shropshire, but it's only 20 mins or so from Chester. I tried to sort out a meet up about a year ago but that came to nothing either. I don't think there are many of us round here.

I just can't believe that after spending nearly 5 years being careful with hot drinks I made such a huge slip up.

Hey we all make mistakes, don't beat yourself up about it I bet he's forgotten about it already. We've made some clangers over the years but they survive and come out the other end.

Should we try a meet up then at cheshire oaks? Bit of everything to do there isn't there. entertainment, food, shopping. I love the place - specially early learning and molton brown

Kath - will happily meet up at Cheshire Oaks. Where and when? I might not be on here for a day or two (who am I kidding?) but will check back when I'm next on.

will keep this thread alive then till u come back. Might be easier once older kids back in school. Could meet in the big park by the food outlet couldn't we? Do you just have a 2yr old ds?

Mine dd 2.7 years and ds 17 months

BadHair · 27/08/2005 23:43

OOh yes, the park by the playground would be perfect. My ds2 is 2.10 and ds1 starts school on 6 Sept. I work Mon and Tues at the mo, but perhaps Weds 14 Sept onwards would be good? You can CAT me if its easier than checking back here.

Anyone else like to join us?
