taking ds2 first holiday in 2 weeks.

I am taking the steriliser and hoping it fits into microwave in apartment, anyway heres what I want to know

  • can I find out measurements of microwave in apartment
  • if I need to take a bottle of water on the plane are they goin to let me?
  • can I take baby food
  • what water is safe to use and how do I know what the sodium content is
  • do I just boil the bottled water in the apartment kettle

I may think of more, bear with me

Hi instead of taking steriliser you may be better taking those travel steriliser bags that you put milton tablets in- smaller and you don't have the worry about the microwave. I have been allowed to take bottle of water on a plane as long as I tasted it at security but if taking formula you may be better taking cartons (or take both and then you are fine either way). you can take baby food (again may have to taste it at security) - boil the water in the kettle not mineral water

lap on bus transfer to hotel is your own choice depending on how risk averse you are and local legislation.

have a great time

I always used to take sterilising tablets, far easier. I did take a big steriliser once but that was when we drove and had room in the car.

You can buy formula in cartons and bottled water once you pass through the security gates, they make you open anything you bring through security otherwise. Same goes for baby food - google the airport shops at the relevant airport you are going to, ie at Bristol where we fly from they have a Superdrug in the airport where you can buy baby food and milk, water etc. Some shops let you reserve stuff before you arrive.

The sodium content is printed on the bottles, I can't remember what is safe or not but google it before you go. I just used to boil up bottled water in our kettle abroad and had no problems.

Have a good time!

twinterror - I cant give him normal boiled water from the kettle, we wouldnt drink that ourselves.

So do we boil the mineral water or just give it straight from the bottle? (of min water)

How do the bags and tablets work? Is it really easier as we will have to make up 4 bottles a day.

I doubt they will have cartons of baby milk at our airport at 4am. I wont actually need a carton until 3pm so no worries there, but he will need some water

You can get sterilising bags which go in the microwave, without tablets. They may be easier. You should be able to buy water airside, or on the plane.

mosschops30 · 05/08/2010 13:39

ooh great where do I get those from??

But it will be bottled water airside rather than cooled boiled water from home

I had these bags

You can use them multiple times.

It will be bottled water yes - personally I don't think it would do any harm for one feed, although I don't know much about the content of bottled water, sorry!
