Hi Grumpy, we stayed at the Dream Castle hotel. This had lovely outside grounds so we could let off steam after the hustle and bustle of the parks and a really nice swimming pool which the children really enjoyed.
Dinner there was a buffet and cost 25 euros for adults and I think 11 euros for children, it was ok but I did not go back after the first night. We were bed and buffet breakfast, it was fine there was loads to eat to set us up for the day, but by day 3 none of the children felt like a massive breakfast and we were eating because we thought we should rather than hunger, consequently we were looking for places to eat early afternoon for the children.
How far will you be staying from the parks? If you are planning to get the courtesy bus back to the hotel for dinner then that will impact on how you plan your day. We found our days started later and later and had a knock on effect each day on dinner times which probably accounted for the lack of appetite in the morning. We liked the flexibility of the evening meal when we liked.
We ate lunch at the New York Deli which is in the area next to the station (sorry rubbish with names) and that was quite reasonable and good food. Book a table at the Cafe Mickey (same area) food was excellent and it will save you searching out the characters in the park as they come round to the table to have their picture taken with the children which was great as it saved us queuing in the parks.
The best area for a 2 year old is the Fantasy Land. The rides are more appropriate and appealing to them (we had a 3,5 and 6 year old). When we were there last week it was really very very busy, queues of up to an hour for a ride so it meant that the children actually went on few rides but they did not seem to mind a bit.
The show in Walt Disney Studios that we saw, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, was a hit and they all really enjoyed it (not sure if on in October)even if it was all in French! The floats that went past in the park were good as the characters then got off to pose with the crowds if you were willing to queue (which we weren't). There was a daytime show which was interesting when we saw it the first time but the older ones were not bothered about it after that. The night-time fireworks were exciting for the 3 children but to see the floats before it was so crowded that we could barely see anything and if the fireworks had not been on we would have felt cheated.
Another good place to meet characters was in Frontierland at Woody's round-up area, Minnie, Mickey and Woody were all available for photos and nearby is a kids play area for them to run about in.
Definately, I am sure you will, bring your own buggy. 8.95 per day hire with 70 euro deposit if you want to go out of the parks. I am sure the queues will be better in October and your little one will have a great time. I was a Disney sceptic before I went but actually I had a really nice time as the children loved it so much and as you can see from how much I have written am thoroughly converted.
