Going on holiday with 31/2 YO - to take pushchair or not?

We rarely use it at home and it will be a complete PITA to take with us because I'm travelling on my own with DS and he has a Trunki which I can tow him around the airport on. We are hiring a car and staying in a villa at the other end with friends. I presume that most of the week will be spent lounging around the pool but there may be outings. So am I likely to regret it if I don't take it? My DS can walk quite a long way but I'm now thinking that if we decide to wander round a town or something, I will be annoyed not to have brought it with me.

What would you recommend oh more experienced mums?

I am debating whether to take the pushchair with us on holiday too, mainly because we have to get on a ferry and it may be a pain to carry it. Also the bus runs right outside the villa we are staying at so we can just jump on that to get into the town.

My dd is 3½ too and she really doesn't use it at home but I am wondering if I may regret not taking it. The only good thing is she does have daddy to carry her if she gets tired.

Hmmm, still not sure and have 3 days to decide!

I just read that as you were taking 32 2yr olds on holiday!!

I'd have said yes, take a few!

32 2 year olds? I don't think I'd dare leave the country!

We definitely did when dd was that age. We used it mainly in the evenings, as she would get tired and was glad to be pushed about/doze off etc.

Thanks Portofino. In that case I might ditch the Trunki altogether this year and take the pushchair instead.

Better to carry the pushchair than end up carrying a lump of a 3 1/2 year old around in the heat/

That is a very good point GM - especially if all my friends are pushing their under 4s around and he is the only one being forced to walk

We had the same when we took ds (3) to Tenerife. "I'm tired, I'm too hot I want to be in my pushchair" This was after refusing to go in it since he was 18 months old

My ds was 3 in March and I'll be taking his.

I'd say definitely take it...especially if you're going to be with friends whose children are in buggys. We went away at the beginning of June and my dd was nearly 4 and we only had a buggy for my ds so dd had to walk. At times it was difficult because she was knackered and ds ended up getting booted out of buggy so she could go in it. In the sun they get tired out much more than normal and better to have a buggy than whinging child! Have a lovely holiday.
