Coooeeeeeee ...........Is this a good price for Orlando?

It is for April 2011 - 14 nights Manchester to Sanford 2 adults, 2 children (well dd is 13 so probably adult price), accommodation on idrive, car hire (but not insurance) for £3100?

Not sure how much extra the insurance will be. It is with Thomas Cook so direct flight.

I have tried looking at booking separately but cannot get direct flights to come in under this price (and I am getting a headache looking now!)

Thank you

Hi

i think that's a good price. Not sure if you've been to sanford, it's a bit further out than MCO - but my DH always says you save by flying there than directly to Orlando.

I'd say go for it! And i'm jealous - i've got to wait til Sept 2011!

Hi Cupcakes - no I haven't flown to sanford before but have read in various places people saying it was ok.

I feel excited about it but am worried about not getting the best deal - mainly because I am not that savvy about best places to book!

Yes, that is a good price, esp for Easter. When I looked, packages inc 3/4 star hotels were coming up at that price outside of school hols, and it was $2 to the £ at the time, so a much more favourable exchange rate then than now.

And as you say, direct flights alone come out at a similar price.

Seems about right. We have just booked for October half term (with First choice/thompson) and it has come out at £3900 staying on site at disney at a deluxe resort. We decided that was better value since we got the disney dining plan for free that way. It was about £900 cheaper if we stayed on site at a value resort (no meal plan though). Disney tickets for 14 days then 850 on top.

Watch the car hire. we cancelled our "free" thompsons car hire since it worked out at £360 for the insurance and that was for a small car which we would have struggled to get cases into. Instead we've booked a large hire car to get us from sanford to disney at £35 (includes insurance) and to get back. We're doing seaworld and discovery cove and so will need a car on those days and will pick them up separately for £24 a day (includes insurance) since can have a smaller car on those days.

Your price seems ok since easter is more expensive than october half term but do check out the on site hotels since we were really suprised tht there was no/little difference in cost once you factor in food, car hire and parking at disney.

Ah thank you all.
And, that's interesting littleredsquirrel. Will certainly check those options before I book as I hadn't thought of that. Would love to be able to stay at a disney hotel but they all seemed so much more expensive, well only looked at the cheaper ones.

before you book, have a look at holidaygenieflorida.com When I was looking for this October they were very happy to price match/beat anything I could find, I was comparing with Thomas Cook - package for Virgin Holidays. Smile
