Stayed in splash landings a few years ago when it was pretty new. It was AWFUL! Beds squeaked, carpets were hideous and the food disgusting. Apparently the alton hotel is much better so go for that if you can!

I stayed in the hotel several years ago when I was a teenager (19) with my boyfriend and I loved it! Everything was thought of, the lifts were dramatic with flashing lights and music, the decor was great and the rooms were styled in a certain way. We went for a look around and one of the chamber maids showed us the cadbury's room, the arabian nights room and the nemesis room which were all so cool but as an adult with a more discerning taste, I couldn't tell you as I havn't been back. But I definately thought it was a great place to be as a teen and I'd love to stay again!

We stayed in Splashlandings last year. The hotel istlef was looking a bit worn but I thought it was very good; great family rooms with a communal kitchen on some floors which meant I could heat up milk & food etc. They even had a washing machine & drier to use. I was very impressed, and the swimming pool complex in the centre of the hotel was fantastic.

BTW we stayed in one of the regular rooms, not the more fancy 'themed' rooms.

I'd go again. The kids loved it too. Comfy beds, nice food etc.

We have stayed in both hotels more than once. The Alton Towers Hotel is the more adult of the two, with mainly adult entertainment in the evening. It has 'explorer' type theming and decor. The Garden Room restaurant is an A La Carte restaurant, and guests also have breakfast in here. There is a long corridoor which goes around the inside of the waterpark, to get to the Splash Landings Hotel, and the waterpark entrance.
Rooms have a double bed and bunks, or a double bed with a single bed with pull- out bed underneath. The rooms are larger than the ones in Splash Landings.
If you stay here, make sure you do not have a room near the Pirate ship, as this is where the music/ singing is at night. It did not end until 11pm, then we had all the noise of guests going past our door.We had left home very early that morning, and were very tired, but it was too loud for us to sleep.
The Splash Landings hotel is very brightly coloured, with a Caribbean theme, and a very different hotel. You can see into the waterpark from the windows in the lounge/ bar/ restaurant. We find this a fun place to stay, even though my sons are now 19 and 24.
The rooms will appeal to children, as brightly coloured, with a beach pattern on the carpet, and bunk beds ( one double bed).It is easy to access the waterpark ( Carriba Creek)from this hotel, as on the lower floor level.
The lifts play music inside when they operate, which my sons loved when they were younger.
We prefer to eat in the restaurant in this hotel ( Flambo's Exotic Feast) as it is an all you can eat buffet for a set price.Loads of choices of foods.
If you look on Trip Advisor,( www.tripadvisor.com)you can read travellers reviews and see their photos. I have written reviews and added my own photos of both hotels here.

I forgot to say - The monorail to the park entrance is next to Splash Landings, so a longer walk from/to the Alton Towers Hotel. They do not walk you through the woods to the entrance by AIR ride any more.
Hotel guests can enter the park one hour early.
Also, Splash Landings has childrens entertainment, music, singing, etc in the early evening after the park has closed, in Ma Garrita's Bar/ lounge area.
The bunks in Splash landings are strong enough for adults, but I would not suggest this hotel for adults who prefer a touch of elegance/ comfort.
Great fun for kids, and those young at heart though.
