What is considered fair compensation

I have been offered 15% compensation by my holiday company for moving us to an unsuitable alternative accomodation whilst in Tenerife. Is this fair or should I write and claim more. I don't know what is considered appropriate compensation.

Thanks

If it was same standard then it is probably as much as you will get but if inferior then you could negotiate the price differential and inconvenience. You can only really press for more if you'd be prepared to go to small claims but you may forfeit whatever has been offered so far.

It was an upgrade from 3 to 4 but we had originally booked a 2 bedroom self catering bungalow and were relocated to a family room in a hotel with no cooking facilities. This proved a nightmare sharing with 2 children and a baby as we all had to go to bed at the same time and as soon as one was awake in the morning, we were all awake! It has also taken them 4 months to respond to our phone calls and emails and it is only now I have got ABTA involved that I have heard from them. I read somewhere that you could claim for 'loss of enjoyment'.

Whilst not an expert, I would say that changing from a self catering bungalow to a hotel is a completely different holiday and they should have offered you the opportunity to cancel. If not, they are in breach of ABTA (I think) rules.

I would fight for 50%.
