Family of five in two rooms, would you? have you? kids in their own room?

So, I am attempting to book a holiday for August and have already following advice on here decided against Egypt (too hot) and for all inclusive.

The biggest problem I'm having being that we've left it so late is getting a room that is big enough to fit five of us. Tbh we don't want to sleep in the same room as the dc's , so something with a separate bedroom or rooms would be perfect. Obviously these get snapped up early, so we are being offered two rooms and I have concerns so wondered if anyone has done this.

Our dc's are between 11 - 7 and I am not convinced that even if their room was right next door that it would be a good idea. What if they are ill in the night, messing around etc? Neither do I want to go on holiday and sleep in a separate room to dh. The travel companies also say that they can't guarantee that the rooms would be next to each other although it's likely.

Anyone done this?

I'm afraid that at that age we wouldnt put DCs in their own room if it wasnt connecting. I do sympathise as we are a family of 5 but even now with oldest at 14 I wouldnt be happy to leave them in a room on their own.

I'm with you Suzie, but DH who is far more laid back than me thinks its fine.

Well I've booked it now and if the rooms aren't interconnecting (which we've requested) then it'll have to be an adult in each room.
