Anyone done it? FIL insisting on taking the kids. I seem to remember seeing NOTHING when I went aged 11 or so. Will my 3 & 5 year old see anything??

Just how early will we have to turn up? It will be school hols by then.

At 3 and % years old could you put the two children on adult shoulders - so they get to see?

or make sure you squeeze through to the front and kneel down

I was in London after coming back on the train from holiday and after we visitied the tower of london my dd2 and I walked from the houses of parliment and past changing of the guard - she saw everything - it was an afternoon and a saturday - so perhaps late summer saturdays are quiter as everyone is going or arriving on a saturday?

The changing of the guard is at 11am during July so if you plan to be there for 10.30am you should be able to get a good spot. Enjoy

we did it last summer hols, got there about 10.30, police were good at directing us to best spot, dcs loved it.

Went on Friday, got there around 10.45 just in time. No horses - unlike last time we went - there was a marching band. Toddler wanted to see the horses really.
Watched from the end of Peascod Street. Tourists did get in the way quite a bit - they don't seem to notice toddlers!
Car parking in Windsor is horribly expensive... £2.70 for 2 hours in King Edward Court multi. Home Park I think is cheapest to park at. Windsor Parking

Once the guards have gone into the Castle, you can't see anything from outside. They remain in there for about 15-20 minutes (I didn't time it) before coming back out again.

Car parking price seems the same as the shocking prices here in Derby then but thankfully we're getting the train down. Now I know there aren't the horses we're going to give it a miss glad I saw your post before we left. Thanks.

Nannynick - you're in Windsor - altogether more relaxing. We were outside Buck House with very recalcitrant 3 year old. 5 year old loved it. I hated it, ended up taking 3 year old for a paddle in fountain in the park as was so not enjoying his behaviour as we had to wait 3/4 hour for anything to happen.
