tis crap

we used to go to the pizza/pasta place near the show pool last year and it was OK but standards had really dropped this year, food was truely horrid

maybe try the burger/grill place near spinning spider ride?

PrettyCandles · 20/07/2010 18:27

Legoland food is a rip-off. Take a picnic. And hire one of their buggies to carry it if ncessary.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 20/07/2010 18:33

It's all crap...we did the big pizza/pasta place this time but it really was lousy.

In the past we have done a mexican burger type place which was equally awful.

minko · 20/07/2010 18:41

Definitely bring a picnic, otherwise you'll be queueing for ages for overpriced rubbish food. There's loads of picnic spaces.

mustrunmore · 20/07/2010 18:44

Picnic, leave it in a locker at the top.

Blu · 20/07/2010 18:44

Take a picnic, leave it in a coolbox in the car if you drive there, nip back out and get it at lunch time, making sure you get your hand stamped on the way out.

Even the ice creams are a ridiculous price. Don't buy anything.

chicaguapa · 20/07/2010 18:48

We all have a rucksack each and carry our own packed lunch around. Then we eat it whilst queuing for rides. It suits DC as they can just graze and we don't feel we are missing out on any ride time.

SingleMumAndProud · 20/07/2010 18:55

I agree with everybody. We have annual passes and never buy food there anymore. a) its a rip off b) its all gross and c) you end up missing out 1-2 hours of time you could be doing better things.

Take a picnic and lots of snacks. If you want a treat, buy an ice cream (although they are pricy too)

nappybrain · 20/07/2010 20:13

Oooh feeling depressed now. We won't go back to the car or even the lockers as we are only there for the day and with the dc it would take ages going there and back - but it does all sound depressingly bad, with no-one with anything positive to say hmmmmm

If there is more than one adult, just send one adult back while everyone else goes on a ride. The slope ovelooking MoniLand is a nice place for a picnic - Legoland doesn't take long to walk across!

Or carry a basic picnic with you - or risk the food, but be prepared, it's expensive.

The place under the Dragon roller coaster does baked potatoes, can' be much wrong wih that. But they were about £6-7, I think!

don't be depressed, just enjoy a picnic!

SingleMumAndProud · 20/07/2010 22:22

Can't you just bring a picnic and carry it? DOesn't have to be big/heavy?

If you are not bothered about the money side, then you can obviously buy food. Its not awful, but for the money you pay, its not worth it. But I guess that depends on your £ situation!

bran · 20/07/2010 22:26

We were there last week and had lunch in the Pit Stop (I think that's the name, near the entrance) which was truly horrible. On the second day we bought chicken wraps from a booth near the lake and sat down to watch the midday show while we ate them. They were edible if not exactly memorable.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 20/07/2010 22:29

The Knights' Table over in the castle does jacket potatoes with various fillings that are perfectly OK, and reasonably priced (even more reasonably priced with a member's discount) on the children's menu (adult jacket potatoes are more of a rip off, admittedly). I tend to eat lunch early when the food places are empty.

SingleMumAndProud · 20/07/2010 22:29

I really think they need a pizza hut or something. Thorpe park have the pizza hut buffet all day and I think that works really well.

BalloonSlayer · 20/07/2010 22:36

You'd be better off eating the lego.

Picnic while the show is on, the one with lots of falling in the water - it's a Pirate one this year. The kids don't notice if you are eating lacklustre sandwiches as they are too busy watching.

Use the school-trip trick of bringing it all in plastic bags/disposable wrappers and dumping the lot when you have finished.

MegBusset · 20/07/2010 22:40

DS1 and I 'ate' in the Duplo Land restaurant a couple of weeks ago. It was dire -- huge queue, they'd run out of loads of things (we were told a half hour wait for macaroni cheese, fgs I could make it from scratch in ten minutes). Loads of people complaining. Paid £12 for a couple of chicken nuggets and chips (no veg!) and a poxy boxed salad.

Take a picnic!!!

nappybrain · 25/07/2010 10:26

If it helps anyone we took Prof Layton's advice and went to the Knights Rotisserie in the castle. For theme park food it worked well for us, jackets pots, chicken dippers and fries - came quick and was hot. thanks for the idea. it was also relatively quiet although i think the picnic tables you sit at were made for those under 5ft 2!
