Paris Metro and Buggy -- possible?

Have 4 year old and 2 year old and traveling from Bristol to Paris on train. Ideally would bring P & T double. Insane on Paris Metro?

If not possible, what about buses?

Hi I lived in Paris for a few years with two young DCs. The bad news is that the metro can be quite / very tricky a with a pushchair. Some stations have lifts, but there's often a barrier / turnstile to negotiate, and you can't always find someone to open the gates.

I got very good at hanging around at the bottom of long flights of stairs and accosting passers-by to help carry the pushchair up. Once you get to know which entrances/exits have the lifts and which stations are a nightmare it gets much easier... but that's not much use if you're there for a few days.

The good news is that the busses are good.

The best news is that Paris is the most walk-able city you're ever likely to come across.

Hope this helps a bit (not much!). Have a great trip.

Do walking and buses. Metro employees are also jobsworths who might refuse to open up the barriers for you to take the buggy through without impediment if they can't be arsed. I adore Paris but am really glad I lived there pre-kids.

Thanks so much! Was contemplating taking small buggy so could fold up and take DCs up stairs, but think that might pose more problems as DD (4) complains her 'legs are too short' when she gets tired.

Think avoid Metro.

Any tips to get from Gare du Nord to the 6th on a bus?

Actually, Gar du Nord to Metro St Michel in the 6th(blvd. st. michel) is one of the better trips to do by metro.

There are no changes from Gar Du Nord (line 4 - purple), and although parts of St Michel station don't have lifts, it's not too bad with a buggy - and there are plenty of people around to help. I know it well as I used to live on Blvd. St Michel and frequently did the trip to Gar Du Nord to meet friends over for the weekend. In this case, I'd say use the metro!

Of course, if you're staying at the other side of the 6th, this won't be much help - although you could get a bus from here.
