Just wondering if there will be room to squeeze the pram in the cabin or should I expect to bed share

What have other people done?

They had travel cots on the overnight to Jersey we took DD on when she was a baby. It just squeezed in between the bunks.

paisleyleaf · 16/07/2010 13:05

Oh, I think we did have to book that travel cot beforehand though.

RabbitAndCo · 16/07/2010 13:08

We've always booked a cot in advance, or bedshared.

Normally there is v little floor space in the cabin so if they offer a cot, it will be one designed to fit, so best to go for that I think.

I bedshared with our 3 month old. Not the best night sleep. You could probably fit pram in if necessary depends how many of you in the cabin. In my experience the less you have with you the less you leave behind and sometimes its quite a rush to get off the ferry, especially if one of the first cars.

callalilies · 16/07/2010 13:14

Yes book a cot.

EldonAve · 16/07/2010 13:38

thanks
no cots on the route unfortunately
we will be 2 adults, 2 kids and baby - hopefully in a 4 bed cabin - I guess I could get the kids to share a bed if necessary

I have also put a blanket / duvet down on the floor and put the baby on that to sleep.

Although that night mostly ended up being bedsharing too.

EldonAve · 16/07/2010 14:36

Do you think I would be able to fit a mountain buggy in? I was considering taking it plus carrycot instead of travelcot for the trip

OP posts:
callalilies · 16/07/2010 15:52

Probably not but carrycot on floor perhaps?

mummytime · 16/07/2010 15:56

I have been in a four birth with my 2 DD (DH and DS in another cabin). The two girls ended up bed sharing (9 and 5) even though there was very little room, because they didn't like the top bunk.

EldonAve · 16/07/2010 19:02

thanks
presumably a buggy isn't much use onboard anyway?

Not really no. Pain getting it from the car deck to the deck you're sleeping on, and only use really is to transport child from car. Easier to do that carrying them really.

cakeandwine · 16/07/2010 21:47

We did 2 adult and 4 children in four berth. One child and one adult on top bunks then 2 DD's top to tail (take extra pillows) and me and 3 month in other bed. It was ok. Buggy not much help really

thanks

We used a pop up cot- but we were taking it anyway for camping.

If you have a MB carrycot, take that up with you but leave main pram in car. You can always pack and carry up things in it for your cabin.

We had a small backpack/sling for getting around boat, as steps are quite steep plus means you have both hands for carrying luggage.

motherbeyond · 18/07/2010 11:14

we just took the pram,we only had dd and ds then.dd(18 months)shared with me,dh in the other bed..ds in the pram, there was plenty of room

EldonAve · 18/07/2010 20:12
