Hi, I can't decide whether to take the train or plane this time between scotland and devon, But it just occured to me that we might need passports to fly, does anyone know if this is so ?
Also anyone know any good offers on transport between these 2 places ?

Going on a weekend down south (we are in Scotland) with friends and apparently we will need passports to fly. Wonder if it depends on the airline/airport, we are flying from Edinburgh but I don't know which airline.

coppertop · 19/08/2005 23:11

I was advised by the Passport Office helpline people that you should take some kind of official photo-ID but not necessarily a passport. Apparently a lot depends on the individual airline's policy too.

Looks like I will need to find out more, as only 2 of my 3 children have a passport and I think mine is out of date . Thankyou,
Anyone know of any deals on train tickets ?

check the flightchecker on moneysavingexpert.com. I had a quick look - the cheapest flight between Glasgow and exeter was £21.99 on way with flybe.com, that was in September. The cheapest flight for August was £77 one way.

I'm sure you don't need a passport, you need photo id. And since we don't have photo id, a passport is the most obvious next best thing.

Milge · 20/08/2005 10:29

you need photo id, which is new style driving licence or a passport. Roll on identity cards, eh

bensmum3 · 20/08/2005 10:55

I guess that means children would need a passport , as they don't have any other form of photo id.

If it helps, I sent my passport application off first class on Monday and my new passport was delivered on Friday, doesn't look like the Passport Office is very busy at the moment.

Hi flying from Canada to get my fast tracked passport in England then flying out quickly for meeting.

What is the closet office to airport with Emergency Passport Office.

Thank you,

Melissa

I travelled to Edinburgh and only needed photo id. We went with easy jet

dailystuck71 · 07/05/2017 17:34

I flew fly be to Birmingham last month. Just used my driving licence.

AlexanderHamilton · 07/05/2017 17:37

I'd say London or Liverpool maybe.

pieceofpurplesky · 07/05/2017 17:41

Adults need photo ID and children under 16 do not need any ID. This can be passport or driving license. This includes flying to Channel Islands (which is how I know)

pieceofpurplesky · 07/05/2017 17:42

@bensmum3 they don't need ID

Akire · 07/05/2017 17:43
