a mini break?

DP and I are driving from Geneva to Blighty and would love to see a little France en route.

Can anyone recommend any places of interest we could stay?

Much thanks in anticipation!

Difficult to say --
However, if there is a twin-town association near you that is twinned with a town en-route, it might be worth joining as the residents can show you the local sights.
Most people travelling to/from Geneva go through Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium to take advantage of the free motorways, and the much cheaper petrol in Luxembourg!

Conflans Ste Honorine near Pontoise is interesting. There is a barge museum and Europes only floating church. It is north of Paris, however. The traffic is not bad around Pontoise, but around Paris ... !!! Further north is Claude Monets Garden at Giverny, and Les Andelys les deux Eglises by the river is quiet but pleasant.

In the past, driving from the UK to Bern & back, DH & I have stayed in Rheims & Verdun, both lovely & the added attraction of champagne!

I like the sound of Conflans Sainte Honorine though! We might try that in the future.

Conflans Ste Honorine is where the Oise meets the Seine, so it is a great centre for the boating and barge fraternity.
Ah, yes, I thought about Epernay and Reims where you can taste the Champagne. Obviously its telepathy! I think there is a charge, now, for a tour and tasting, of around 10 to 13 euro, and often you need to book in advance. Years ago some of them were free. Thats progress!

To Drayford:
Tonbridge is twinned with Pontoise (near Conflans) and has an active twinning group. If you are near, it might be worth joining!
Pontoise has the Musee Pissaro, if art is your interest!

I went to Conflans Ste Honorine on a French exchange about 30 years ago. I don't remember beig taken to a barge museum, or anywhere nice, infact.

But maybe that was because I was a teenager at the time

Sorry, I think that should be "Pissarro".
Impressionist painter 1830-1903. He lived and worked in Pontoise between 1866 and 1883.
