Any good or boring? could we go to Kew Gardens and Wetlands? This is the one day in London were we will be outside. Or, should we go the other way to Hampton Court? I want to try and have some plans before it all happens, gives me chance to look for discounts!!

Hi
It's the London Wetland Centre here so you could say we're biased... But do pop along, it's certainly not boring! We have indoor and outdoor play areas for children and a wide array of activities each weekend.

Plus you can see all the newly hatched ducklings waddling about the reserve after their parents and the flowers are gorgeous - our best ever year for orchids for example.

And if you are planning your trip for after July 19 you can be one of the first to try out our brand new exhibits - pond safari and digital pond. Operate our underwater camera to see what lies beneath the surface of our pool or play games on our interactive floor.

Never a dull moment, rain or shine!

Kind regards
Catherine

We used to go to the Wetlands all the time when we lived in Fulham - it's fun, with a great outdoor play area, lots to see and activities (like pond dipping, make a flower, etc) which are usually free. The cafe is nice too and you can sit outside.

Kew isn't far, and is also fun - it has the creepers and crawlers play area, a little train, and the skywalk which you could do in a couple of hours.

Another vote for the Wetlands. We live nearby and have annual membership.

My boys are 5 and 7. They like "shooting poo" inside, and the outdoor play area is great. If it's hot there is some wet play, take a towel and a costume. There are arts and crafts activities in the holidays too. It was one of our favourite places to go when they were smaller and they still haven't grown out of it.

Oh, and you can look at the wildlife if you are interested in that.

It's smaller than Kew so easy to do in a relaxed day. I think Kew AND Wetlands in one day would be a lot, myself, but it depends how much you want to pack into your holiday. Cafes not too cheap at either, take a picnic.
