Best Normandy beach for DC?

We're actually staying in Vimoutiers, which is just over an hour to the coast. So we may only go to the beach once and would like to choose the best one. I fancy Deauville or Honfleur myself but I don't know one of the others might be better for DC (8&5)? Do you have any recommendations please?

Also for any other 'must do' places in Normandy. Thanks.

I'm off to Normandy at the end of this month too, so I'm interested to hear people's suggestions for good beaches.
I'm afraid I don't have any beach suggestions, but places I intend to go include:
Mont St Michel
The Bayeaux Tapestry
The D-Day Landing beaches and museum
The Cider Tour
Falaise Castle

Do you have any other suggestions?

I think we have the same places on our list! The Camembert tour too. DC aren't fussed about horses so we're not bothering with any of the equestrian stuff.

Well this isn't hugely helpful but NOT Arromanches - we were there last week and there is a SERIOUSLY bad sewerage problem! Omaha and Utah beaches as well as being historical are very nice beaches, Honfleur doesn't have a beach as such but is very nice - how about Houlgate? It's lovely there.

The Deauville / Trouville beach (same thing) is FABULOUS for kids. We also highly recommend the Parc Zoologique at Cleres, it's very well sign-posted.

Thanks. I fancy Deauville but was concerned it might not be great for kids. Will have a look at the Zoo.

Loved Merville/Francville beach - lovely long beach which gently shelves down so great for small kids. Honfleur was nice but a bit windswept when we went there. Didnt like Deauville much but older kids would probably like it.

The zoo is fabulous. Local markets are great for little ones to wander round with lots of fabulous food stuffs.

Oh - and if your kids are aged between 2 and 5 they'll probably like Festyland.

Try not to drive through Honfleur, either, it is really really slow and the road is not so scenic as to be worth it, you can just use the bigger roads behind it.
