Can I claim council tax exemption once I've been accepted for uni?

Both me and my partner have enrolled to go back to college full-time in September (at the grand old age of 35!)

I know you can get an exemption from council tax if all adults in a house are students, but when does it start?

Is it from when the course starts or can we claim now we've been accepted? I did assume at first we wouldn't be eligible until September, but I remembered that if you've been accepted on a full-time course you can't claim JSA for example as they class you as a student. So if that's the case perhaps we're officially students now as far as council tax goes too?

Does anyone know?

TIA

It starts from September when you enroll for the academic year. IIRC the job seekers is different because you are no longer actively looking for work so you can not claim this (ask them about income support though), the government like people off job seekers ASAP because it affects the unemployed figures aswell so this is part of it. You can claim council tax benefit until September though (when your student status changes) so pop and chat to the council.

Thanks for the reply belledechocolatefluffybunny

I did guess that would most likely be the answer but I wanted to be sure.
