at the Barbican Centre. They made lovely speeches and brought a real warmth to the proceedings. The Chancellor reminded us all that Harold Wilson started the OU, Ted Heath called it Wilson's folly and demanded that it be closed. His Education Secretary, Margaret Thatcher, refused and so I owe my degree to her.

A 2:1 BA (Hons) in English Literature!

HUGE congratulations Mars - hope you've had a wonderful day

MarsLady · 30/04/2010 22:48

Thank you Moley! I did indeed. Had a quick flirt with the Chancellor of the OU (as you do), got my certificate. Lovely photos.

Then took my mum and a group of friends to lunch at an amazing Caribbean restaurant!

It was a great day and the culmination of years of study and hard work. I'm feeling rather proud of myself!

Well done - hope you thoroughly enjoyed your day. It's such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment, isn't it?

Molesworth · 30/04/2010 22:52

It's a massive achievement and deserves to be marked with a suitably special day

I'm just coming into the home straight on mine now, so I really do understand what a lot of work you've put in!

MarsLady · 30/04/2010 23:07

Can't believe you're almost there already Moley! Wow! Go girl!

Thank you Pole.

Only seems like 5 minutes since I was asking advice on here about which course to do first

Are you going to continue with your studies Mars? Last I remember you were doing a French course, but that was aaaages ago now

MarsLady · 01/05/2010 18:07

After the French I did some creative writing. I'm currently studying to become a Lactation Consultant. Once that's done I'm going to go for my Masters and then the Doctorate.

I remember when you were asking. Time flies. What are you studying at the moment?

Well done Mars, congratulations! I got mine 17 years ago - I think studying part time with the OU and a family must be so much harder than it was foir me straight out of school with no dependents.

I remember sending you a couple of books a few years ago, think it was for your course - glad to hear of the outcome!

mumeeee · 02/05/2010 22:46

Congratulations Mars

Well done Mars.
You should be extra proud of yourself today.
