My DD2 is planning on going to Spain to take a 10 week Spanish course during her gap year. She did AS level last year but wants to build on her skills.

She likes the look of a course run at Salamanca university, but any advice, guidance, caveats very gratefully received.

There are loads of courses about. In general you want courses which is accredited by the Cervantes Institute, and which uses communicative / direct methods (although if they are registered, they should be anyway I think).

University courses would normally be well run, as they are at the forefront of thinking on language teaching. the only thing is, it might be more expensive than other courses?

my only caveat would be that 10 weeks won't be enough. has she looked at cheaper courses she can do for longer?

Thanks for your response Senora

I didn't know about the Cervantes Institute but am about to google away!
She doesn't really want to be away for more than 10 weeks at this stage, and there is also the issue of funding her living expenses.

I will be back
