How do you work out university offers that come in points?

DS1 has had four offers now, and we're waiting on the fifth. They're all in the region of 260-280 points (I think), but I'm finding it hard to work out what that means in terms of grades, and DS1 is being infuriatingly vague about it all. I've read the UCAS site, but still don't really get it!

I know that one of the universities has specified a particular grade in one or two of his A levels, but the others are all just the number of points.

He's doing 3 A2s, has a French AS level (although only an E grade), and is also doing an Extended Project which, I think, will generate more points.

Any ideas what he has to achieve in terms of grades to get 260-280 points?

TIA

There's a useful website

B 100

E 40

His French AS E is worth 20 points and CCC at A2 is 240 points (80 points each). I think because of the way the points work he could also get BCD and still have 240 points. The extended project varies from 70 points for an A* to 20 for an E.

Thank you so much . Looks like it should be doable for him, as long as he continues to work.
