Understanding systems & Working with children & families

I think they could go together? Or am I confused & misguided?

I don't know - but if you're going to do K204 starting in Feb you can hold my hand through it - I got my first course mailing the other day and I'm shitting myself. You with your childminding experience probably won't be so phased by the 6 huge wall charts that arrived with various "acts" on them, nor the reams of paper for just the 1st 2 blocks

Katymac · 01/12/2009 23:17

I'll hold your hand whether I do it or not

I just thought it seemed quite systems based - but its the last run through & I was going to do my systems in Feb then a level 3 systems the following feb

oooo didn't realise it was the last run through this feb

I'm looking forward to it - but I'm VERY nervous - I don't know yet whether I scraped through my level 1 course yet - and now I've faced with a bloody scary looking Level 2>>>

Katymac · 01/12/2009 23:23

I only need 30 pts at level 2 with my systems one - but all the 30 pt level 2 seem crap

What are you working towards?

I'm working towards Health and Social Care (really wanted to do the Social degree but need to be working in it, and having had an "in depth - from the otherside" view of Social Workers jobs have decided it's not really for me anyhow.

Going to be analysing the Family Support Worker role soon as we'll have one of those contacting us soon now the CP SW has done her stuff (this whole situation with DH has been fantastic for giving me a really good insite into the workings of the systems and all that and helping decide which direction I want to go - and his team, plus my carer support worker have been fab at telling me more about what they do )

Katymac · 01/12/2009 23:29

Will you be moved onto a CAF?

Sorry that was rude - just I despair at the support being offered to families I work with

ermmm pass - SW has been pretty useless so hoping that the FSW is a little more forthcoming with information about what is happening/wlll happen.

Katymac · 01/12/2009 23:33

Now, there's a surprise

They seem so ineffectual

well if I told you that it was left to my Carer Support Worker (someone from DH's team) to tell me that CP had said I couldn't leav ehim in sole charge, then after she came round and told us herself didn't contact us for 4 weeks (having left me in tears and very upset), then it took a week from her saying that DH could do the sole charge, just not all day or overnight, to come round and get us to sign the agreement saying we would stick to that............

alwayslookingforanswers · 01/12/2009 23:36

pssst - what's a CAF???

I'm sure I'll learn about those in my course if I don't before LOL.

Katymac · 01/12/2009 23:38

Common Assessment Framework - look into it - it seems a good (if limited) system - get in touch if you have time & I'll talk you through it

ahh - just found a copy of the form for a CAF - no afaik we haven't been moved onto one of those.

Though may just drop it into conversation with the FSW once she gets in touch and we meet her.

Katymac · 01/12/2009 23:44

Do

I'll chat more tomorrow

hehe

Shan't be around much tomorrow, seeing my CSW and have choir practice in the evening.

Remember if about celebrating the positives for the children and getting support from several agencies (housing/benefits/homestart/SS/School or nursery/anyone else we can think of) tbh you only need one active participant & you can move mountains
