how would i get into this sort of role. I would love to support and advise people and have seen loads of jobs advertised by the council etc. Ive been a sahm for the last few years so not very confident but want to try something new in an area that i can hopefully progress. I have a GNVQ in health and Social Care and a nursing diploma.I deally i would love to do a social work degree and maybe one day i will when the kids are at school.

You have enough actual qualifications.Do you have any experience in that sort of work that you can use on applications?

ive only really worked in geral adult and have care experience with the elderly. Ive noticed the more specialised it is like drug/alcohol or female support worker their is an increase of pay. Its an unknown field but something im interested in especially as its a growing problem. Is there opportunities in this field for promotion?

I am just finishing my social work degree and worked in social care for around 10 years before that. I would say do some voluntary work. Its a good way to get into that kind of work and also good for you to find out if its what you are looking for.

Maybe there is a course on Open UNiversity that would give you some extra qualification, as in more specialist ones...
