How would you write an introduction to this question?

"Write a short piece reflecting on your experience of the course so far, and the evidence you have gathered about ?where you are now?. Think about this in terms of what you have discovered about your preferences for different management topics, and what you believe to be your strengths and weaknesses as a learner.
Write a further paragraph to say which of the management topics you have studied in part 3 seem to be important for your current workplace practice (choose more than one if relevant). Give reasons for your answer.
Using the information about yourself and your learning AND your ideas about what might be important for you at work, concluding your essay by identifying an area of management knowledge which you would like to work on for your end of course assessment. Give reasons for your choice. "

I am completely flummoxed tbh & need lots of help - would anyone give me their views?

I would start with the main body of the essay and write the introduction once I knew which direction it/I was going in.

Start by listing all the different management topics and write down your immediate thoughts on each. From there you can go on to strengths and weaknesses as a learner.

Enough to start with?

catweazle · 24/01/2009 19:39

Listing on rough paper that is, to get your thoughts in order, not on the actual essay.

That's kind of where I am at

I thought there would be a better of doing it then change the order about a bit

Nice to know I'm not that daft

I assume this is a fairly informal exercise? If so, I would start with something like "Prior to starting this course, I thought x (ie that I was most interested y). However, I have discovered that.....' etc. You need -as the instructions state - to reflect on your experience. So, you need to jot down a few ideas about where you were before you started, what you have learnt, if the course has changed your outlook - and why, It seems to be encouraging you to discuss where are you going, ie what you have found most interesting and how you will go on to develop this. It would be good to include any way in which the course has changed your opinions or beliefs.

It is my first OU essay & I'm in a bit of a mess about it

don't worry, Katy - you will be fine. You are giving it plenty of thought. Just get some ideas down, make sure you know what the most important points are and sleep on it! All your preparatory work will pay off

I guess so

I am quite short of time and feeling a bit stressed

I am 20% of the way there

I have done 930 words & answered the question - now I just need another 420 (minimum) words to meet the target
