What are NABS? My DC is sitting them, but either doesn't know herself exactly what they are, or is being a bitch and just won't tell me!

nabs are like prelims, they count as part of your final marks.

Ill ask my sister for more info.

Sorry but I wouldn't say a NAB is like a prelim at all.

I may be wrong, as I'm out of school 3 years, almost 4 now, but I remember a NAB as being the assessment you got at the end of a topic within a unit.

So for maths, I think there were three, so for 10 weeks you looked at one thing then it was a NAB, then another ten weeks, another NAB.

Amazonianadventure, I do think they count as part of the final assessment though. Again, if I remember correctly you couldn't pass the subject without passing all of the NABS and the final exam.

I left school about 5 years ago, from what I can remember they a like mini-exmas at the end of each unit/term that must be passed in order to sit the exam.
If on the day of the actual exam you are ill or got a much lower result than what was expect your teacher/school can appeal on your behalf to the examination board using them as evidence to what grade you average.

They don't count as part of your final grade, but you are not allowed to sit final exam if you have not passed all NABs. 3 sounds about right, one at the end of each term so she should have one coming up about now!
