Graduate Training Programme.. Can anyone help?

What is a graduate training programme?

Are there any out there which would be accessible with a degree in Childhood Studies?

A graduate training programme is an entry level job for new graduates.

A lot of them don't require a specific qualification, just that level of education, then lead towards a professional qualification while working on the job. No absolute guarantee of a job at the end of it though. For example you can enter a graduate Accountancy scheme in a company offering the appropriate courses and experience towards a professional qualification on the basis of a less directly relevant degree such as History. However you may have to prove a level of competency in relevant skills such as numeracy in the case of accountancy and a more relevant degree can gain exemptions from the basic stage of professional exams.

Not sure where Childhood Studies itself might take you though - Social Work, Nursing, Psychology perhaps but those are vocational degree courses in themselves rather than on the job training schemes so you would probably gain little advantage or you could probably do something more relevant such as teacher training programme postgrad (PGCE).

im hoping to do a GTP in teaching, though its very competitive with no real qualification at the end of it.

You get Qualified Teacher Status at the end of GTP Teaching

yep you do but you dont hold a certificate as such, and you wont be able to teach abroad with it.
