Any ideas what you do when DD gets an E for photography despite taking amazing photographs?

DD has had upsetting AS results. She didn't do well in academic subjects at GCSE so supported her in doing practical arty drama subjects at AS level. She has helped her school so much: co-ordinating lower school performances; mounting photography work for examination for absent fellow pupils, staying till 11pm or getting there at 8am to help the drama dept with this or that. This is a bog standard school with a sixth form. One teacher has been sick all year so she gets a U for that subject (special teacher -impossible to replace, we have been told. The school has lost one of the films so with a missing module she gets a D for Media Studies and an E for photography because its "quantity that counts not quality" and she should have had at least 3 different location shoots for each module and manipulated them. WHAT"S the point in telling us now?. Eldest DS went to sixth form college and at least they told us if there was a problem with course work. Any ideas where we can find some where that does confidence or self esteem building for 17 year olds. We need it quick!

Tell her not to worry she can resit her As.
Both DD1 and DD2 did not do well in their AS.
DD2 got an E for her English As. she resat those and has now got a C in her A2.
DD1 got a D in her physics but resat and ended up with aan A in her A2.

She should get a copy of the specification for each of her subjects so that she knows what is expected of her. They should be available for download from the exam board website.

In fact, she should have a good root around the website, and look at all the helpful information that is there. One of the most helpful parts are the examiners' comments from past exams.

She should also ask her teacher to get a copy of her marked papers from the exam board. This is very important when embarking on resits so that she doesn't repeat history.
