OK - OU here I come....so what do I study first?

I'm doing a level 1 cert atm
I just finished a level 3 cert & my MVQ3 in EY Childcare & Education

I can work about 20 to 25 hours a week

So how many points should I aim to do?

I am looking at this and or here

Is that too much to start off with?

I also want to do some business stuff - any suggestions?

I'm just about to start E123. As it's only 30 points they reckon it should only take 7 - 8 hours a week. The parcel from the OU has arrived with books and DVD I presume but I'm too scared to open it! What if I fail at the first hurdle? Not used to studying

So I could do both - shall we study together? (if I do that one)

You can tell me what E124 is like as well as I'm doing that next year as part of the Early Year's degree.

Childcare 'cos I need it & business 'cos it's fun?

Mind you, most of E123 will be covered by my NVQ work - I may need to target it & pad it out a bit

Do you have to do lots of level 1?

I like the look of the level 2 courses

3 at level 1. The other one is E115 - professional development.
2 at level 2 including E215 - extending professional development. The other choices are ED209, U212 or K204
And then KE312 - working together for children at level 3

I've woken up feeling much more committed
I have put my Tescos vouchers to one side & I am ringing about getting my previous year at uni credited

I don't know how many points they will credit me & it's a bit annoying to have decided this so late in the holidays as it will take 8 weeks to see if it'd relevant and can be counted.

I passed 7 units (both coursework & exam) in the first year, & in the second I passed 7 coursework but only 2 exams.

I'm hoping for at least 30 point out of that - does anyone know?

I have sent off for my credit transfer - so fingers crossed

Just so you know, I did all of that childcare stuff on my FD....

Hmm how to choose

Which ones interest you the most? Are they business courses or childcare or a mixture of both? I would be looking at the future requirements ie graduates in settings etc and perhaps choosing courses to fit in with that?

I guess

EYPS can be done after any degree - so that isn't an issue (at least I don't think it is)

Plus there is the requirement for nursery settings to have degree qualified staff by 2012 (or is it 215?)

There is just so much I want to do

With my initial choice I have 465 points at level 2 & 440 at level 3

I need to do some cutting down
