I’ve been waiting for this thread but in lieu of anyone else starting it…welcome and good luck to all those facing the imminent stress of drama school auditions
My son is studying the RSL Level 3 performing arts presently and has his first audition booked for Emil Dale BA in January having recently enjoyed the boys day.
I’m keen for him to get applications in early as I’m sure statistically it gives better odds however he’s not ready to audition yet. He’s also looking at actor muso courses potentially too.

I look forward to hearing about your experiences

Wow Mcmumager its good to hear from someone further in the journey, congratulations on your kids progress!
How is final year, finding an agent and employment going? I hope they’ve had a great drama school experience

Final year seems very busy- his year do 2 cabarets, 3 full musicals, Xmas shows, agent showcase locally and in London then there is all the work on showreels etc . Their first musical is in a couple of weeks so I’m excited to watch that. They did a cabaret last night and they were all great. It does all come round so quickly. Feels very real now and the scary part of hopefully getting the right agent and into the audition room is coming round fast!

@Livingtheirauthenticlife Mountview and Arts Ed as well-not applied yet so aiming to do that this week....what dates does your DS have for Arts Ed and Mountview? Also looking at Urdang, Laine, Bird, GSA, Trinity Laban and Central.....maybe Royal Welsh and LIPA too

Edited

Don't forget Italia Conti too 😁 My daughter is in 2nd year of BA Acting MT (her 3rd year there as she did the MT Cert first) and is very happy there. They live in Guildford, which is a Uni town because of the Uni of Surrey, so gets the Uni experience too x

Italia Conti application in and self tape sent!

Songanddancing · 04/11/2026 18:48

Anyone who has applied/is applying to GSA when does the self tape have to be sent? Do they send a deadline after the UCAS application has been submitted?

Anyone who has applied/is applying to GSA when does the self tape have to be sent? Do they send a deadline after the UCAS application has been submitted?

Last year when they acknowledged my sons application they requested £15 (he did that a couple of weeks later as there was no deadline timeframe just asap), when they had processed that they then sent an email requesting tapes upload by 3 weeks of the email date, hope this helps.

Thanks for starting the thread! Wondering if anyone has heard back from Emil Dale auditions last Tuesday? We’re getting self-tapes sorted for GSA this week and two more auditions at the end of the month, already feeling like a rollercoaster ride!

I am early as my MT mad daughter is Year 10 but...I am an agent and am IL at one of the drama schools but for the MA course.

Here for parental learning but happy to answer any industry perspective questions!

Joining in preparation next year (for tips) and wishing your DC all the best for their auditions!

Songanddancing · 06/11/2026 10:17

Thank you @Bargainhunterliz this is much the same as the others as well I think....

Songanddancing · 06/11/2026 10:57

@TwilightSparkl3 you are very organised! Where are your DC's auditions this month? Also, has anyone had an audition at Arts Ed or Laine yet? I see for Laine they have a specific list of monologues.....

Livingtheirauthenticlife · 06/11/2026 10:59

@TwilightSparkl3 not heard anything from EDA yet. This waiting around business is SOOOO nerve wracking!

TwilightSparkl3 · 06/11/2026 11:29

@Songanddancing ArtsEd audition on 24 Nov and Mountview on 30 Nov. Aside from GSA self tapes that’s all DS had planned this side of Christmas. She had friends apply last year so knew what was coming made a spreadsheet and plan in the summer. Trying to spread them out as she has A-levels, two rounds of mocks before the final exams.

TwilightSparkl3 · 06/11/2026 11:35

@Livingtheirauthenticlife OMG, I hadn’t prepared myself for the waiting, it feels worse than when I’ve personally been for a job interview! Don’t feel you have to share the outcome but if you can let me know when you hear back, I’d be super grateful, and I will do the same.

No problem at all - my son had his audition on the Monday (26th). I think there is a good chance things at take longer, since was during half term (and they had a lot of events happening). Defo feeling your pain!

Songanddancing · 06/11/2026 11:43

@TwilightSparkl3 your DD is very sensible! Ours is at a performing arts sixth form so no A Levels but still very busy with shows and other exams. Best of luck to her with her auditions. Hoping DD will get her applications in for Mountview and Laine next week and book audition dates for after Christmas...

I found the waiting stole much of my time last year, you literally don't concentrate on anything whilst in this zone, for us one was over 4 weeks and it was agonising! I hope you can make it through it!
