My son didn't love school and left with 3 Cs including Maths and Physics So he was lucky- I think- to receive offers for Mechanical Engineering from both Liverpool and Lancaster (both foundation degrees)- he "firmed" the latter offer But, at the last minute, through clearing, he's gone and changed to Sports and Exercise Science at Sheffield Hallam! I know I should maybe be disappointed but I'm actually really pleased- there was always the worry that he wouldn't pull his finger out and that he wasn't especially interested in engineering. He's very interested sport, exercise and nutrition anyway so I feel enthusiastic about his new choice. The wider family is a bit negative though- not to him, to us- and I do understand their concerns but I do feel this is right for him so I won't let them burst my bubble! Anyone have any knowledge of this degree, particularly at this university? The main concern is prospects and I do share that concern- my son's also aware- but he insists that money isn't the be all end all for him. He already has a part time job, has saved up money for university- we can't afford to give him any- and has shown himself to be a good worker, so hopefully that helps him in the future anyway.
