Should we request an AQA remark when university place is secured

My son has got his A levels results and onto his first choice course. One subject is one mark from the higher grade, aqa is the board. Should it get it re marked? Is it even relevant when he is on the degree course.

@GranolaBaker This is why uni blind is such a blunt instrument. Firms can ask for loads of info but not uni! People interviewing can have all sorts of prejudices, not just uni attended. They might not like the A levels taken or the way you dress!

You get a refund if the grade changes. It's not about the mark.

And it's not a remark. No one is looking for extra marks.

Just got ours back, needed one mark to go from a B to an A, got 4 marks back and now an A 🥰

I’m going to be contrary. Yes, ask for the marking to be reviewed, I don’t believe it costs £150. It was a tenth of that a few years ago.

Grad schemes, Legal training contracts, banks, etc. will ask for his A levels. They matter. The board is not entirely wiped clean.

A levels are of interest because they are blind marked against a national cohort.

It costs around £50 per paper, and there may be 3 papers.

No. After that he can just put ‘A levels - X, Y and Z - grades A to C’ or whatever the range is. Doesn’t matter as long as it’s a pass.

It doesn’t work like that if applying for vacation schemes, internships and competitive graduate schemes.
You have to state actual grades.

Exactly. It depends on your child’s aspirations. And you can’t be sure what those will be, and you can only ask for a review now. You can’t go back three years later when they are on the dean’s list and want to apply for something really competitive.

Just go one paper at a time.

Dd got great grades, and more than met her firm uni offer so we didn't bother.
