If your dc did psychology A-Level, did they enjoy it on the whole?

And if they studied Psychology at uni, did the course meet the expectations and what sort of profession or further study did they go onto?

@Placestogo - thanks. It is interesting to learn about this psychoanalytic pathway. It is a route I’m much less familiar with.

Left field possibly, but is she aware of Psychology, Philosophy & Linguistcs at Oxford? The overlap between linguistics and psychology has for a long time fascinated me.

If Oxford not realistic, other unis offer joint or combined honours that may be of interest.

Psychology is one of the hardest subjects to get a place in at Oxford. You're better off applying for something like Celtic Studies which take over 50% of their applicants, if Oxford if your primary goal.

Surely Oxford isn't the primary goal - it's a thread about Psychology in general!

Please don't be obtuse, what I said is true and not an unhelpful comment.

Indeed, nor should it be, I agree 😊and it’s always worth repeating. In fact I rarely bring in a particular university but I thought PPL (available only at Oxford afaik) might be a good fit based on this from OP:

”Dd is trying to chose between English Lit and Psychology. She isn't really interest in counselling or mental health but in the workings of the human mind.”

For me, the linguistics reveals a lot about the workings of the human mind, as does psychology obviously. The crossover between them is very interesting.

I agree, PPL sounds a really interesting course. Various other universities offer Psychology & Linguistics, which might also suit - Edinburgh, Warwick, Lancaster, etc etc.

That’s very good to know, @noshade , and they’re great unis too.
