Can you reapply through UCAS next year after a late application?

Hi my dd is doing an Access course and has done very well. She’s being encouraged by her college to submit a late UCAS form for this year and is keen to go, the university has places for the degree she’s looking at and she already has the grades needed. However she is filling the form in a rush. She was planning on applying for next year and getting some extra experience/ reading in to put on the form during the year. If she was unsuccessful this year could she resubmit UCAS with a different personal statement next year? Does it go against you if you do UCAS a second time?

I don't know but an alternative suggestion would be to go through clearing. Many years ago, I didn't apply at all but then got into Durham through clearing.

The college are pushing her to do it now. I guess as she has the grades and there are spaces if she gets in before clearing there is more chance of being successful.

Yes you can reapply each year. Would she really have more experience by the autumn?

Yes she can apply now (late) but also reapply in autumn with a new personal statement. She's got nothing to lose so might as well give it a shot. Good luck!

Applying this year should not by itself stop her applying again next year. The bigger issue is quality control. If she applies now, I’d keep the personal statement clean and evidence-led, then ask the university directly whether late applications are still being considered properly for that course. If it feels rushed, a planned 2027 application may be stronger.

My son applied through UCAS twice, he hated his first university so applied again next year to one of the other ones he was offered and had turned down. He got accepted.
