Why did DD get a contextual offer?

Does anyone know how contextual offers are decided?
My dd has received a contextual offer from Bristol and I’m not sure why. The other offers she received have not been contextual.

She’s not complaining! But we are wondering what the reason is.

Her state school was not on the list for contextual offers (I flicked through the list during an open day)
She did do her first (Statistics) GCSE in Year 10 at a different school , which was on the list.
The other GCSEs she did in Year 11.

So I think they either looked at the GCSE she took in Yr10 at a ‘qualifying’ school
or
perhaps they noticed she moved schools between year 10 & 11 ( house move 3 hrs away) and that counts for something?

Look on the Bristol uni website, they will say what they take into account for contextual offers.

Which POLAR 4 quintile is your postcode in? Our kids got contextual offers because of the historically low participation in higher education in our area.

Search by postcode - Office for Students

This tool can be used to search by postcode for levels of young participation in higher education.

policy is clearly set out here.

if she took a GCSE at a qualifying school that’ll be it

I read it mainly as from which school you are applying, and the year 11,12, 13 school is not on the list (only the 1 gcse from year 10 - school is on the list)

Ah, I’ve just searched our postcode and our street falls into an area classed as 1, so that’s it.
Thanks for the link, as the other unis didn’t give a contextual offer , I was a bit surprised but I guess they’ll all have their own criteria.

Post code and state school is usually used for contextual offers.

My DS received a contextual offer from one uni but not the others. He didn’t apply for contextual consideration, but something flagged on his ucas application and the uni contacted him to ask him for further details. Different unis have different criteria.
