Where to find list of university courses offered in 2025 clearing?

CoralTrout · 14/03/2026 21:41

Hi all and thanks in advance! Is there a website or similar where I can find the Universities and courses that offered places via clearing in 2025 please? My DD is having a late burst of enthusiasm for her A levels and thinking of trading up her firm course choice in clearing but my sense is this University and course she wants rarely offers via clearing. 2025 data to verify or not would be helpful!

Ask ChatGPT?

CoralTrout · 14/03/2026 21:50

ChatGPT didn't help very much but thank you for the suggestion.

I don’t think this info is available actually.

Sometimes MNers have noted details and shared them tho. What is the course and uni?

Clearing does vary a lot IME.

RockyKeen · 14/03/2026 22:41

Right now you can see through ucas what courses are available for extra . Whatever is left by July will go into clearing.

Seeline · 14/03/2026 22:44

No there is no actual list. I suppose because it changes so much from when it opens in July through until results day.

Talipesmum · 14/03/2026 23:16

No list - but if you make a post on here with the type of course and potential unis she is interested in in the title, some people might have been looking last year and could help.

NeedingCoffee · 14/03/2026 23:16

If you say which course and uni, someone may have noted it last August - this is the only way to do it. For example I noted a few unis and the grades asked for Marketing and Management courses last August in preparation for this summer.

fairyring25 · 15/03/2026 08:03

@NeedingCoffee Do you see when you were looking at management and marketing, which ones had management (on its own) in clearing in 2025? Out of the top 20 universities only.

I did find this article on the Tab about clearing in 2025.
thetab.com/2025/08/14/all-the-russell-group-unis-where-students-can-still-claim-places-through-clearing-in-2025

fairyring25 · 15/03/2026 08:21

@CoralTrout
I have found the website whatdotheyknow.com useful. Loads of people have done freedom of information requests to find out the offer rates, acceptance rates and clearing statistics.

People have already put in freedom of information requests for which courses were available in clearing in 2025 at different universities. I have just looked for it for the first time and found that there is a list for UCL, Nottingham, Warwick etc. Durham did not provide the information.
@NeedingCoffee Now that I have found these lists-I think I have answered my own question.

CoralTrout · 15/03/2026 08:24

Thank you all for the ideas and links. She wants University of Bristol so I think unlikely to offer through clearing? I think she is better to reapply in 2027? But I don't really know!

OP posts:
NeedingCoffee · 15/03/2026 08:27

I know @fairyring25 doesn't need, but in case of use for others

York - Business and Management Bsc or BA - BBC or equivalent tariff points

Manchester - Mangement - ABB/ AAC/ AstarBC etc

Liverpool - Business Management ABB

Crunk · 15/03/2026 08:29

It depends on the course. Eg MFL courses seemed to be in clearing across the board last years. Popular subjects not so much.

CoralTrout · 15/03/2026 08:30

Probably Geography but a course in that field would be ideal.

tutugogo · 15/03/2026 08:33

Reapplying with grades is definitely a good option if they are significantly elevated from what was originally predicted. The upside to this is they will get unconditional offers and can spend a year working (or most of a year with a bit of travel) saving up for university. Often you get first preference on accommodation too as you can book it earlier

fairyring25 · 15/03/2026 08:37

@CoralTrout
Bristol refused the information request to show their clearing statistics.
I can see Bath and Warwick did not have Geography in clearing but UCL and Nottingham did in 2025.
I haven't looked at every university but I think Geography is a subject that you could find spaces in clearing at quite a lot of universities.

AelinAG · 15/03/2026 12:37

Just to say whatever is in clearing one year is not necessarily an indication of what the position will be next year.

for example where I work two courses that was in clearing last year definitely won’t be this year - one because we’re having the building redeveloped so we need a year with a lower number to accommodate the work being done to specialist teaching space and one because so many staff in that school took redundancy that we’ve dropped our recruitment numbers.

conversely in a lot of other where we haven’t previously been in clearing we intend to this year because of dropping International
numbers .

clary · 15/03/2026 16:53

Yes indeed - past performance is no guarantee.

DD got onto her course through clearing, needing BCC; the following year it was on at CCD IIRC. The year DD went to uni, one uni had her course on offer at BBB; the following year that uni had no clearing offer at all. Slightly extreme examples but you get the idea.

I would think in general Bristol is less likely to have courses in clearing; but bc of various factors there have been some surprising courses in clearing in recent years.

RonnSeall · 15/03/2026 19:04

My DC applied for geography last year - got into their first choice uni but we had a nosey in clearing incase they wanted to trade up. These are the ones I wrote down, we were shocked how many geography courses were in clearing, many with big grade reductions. But as pps said you can’t really take much from it, every year is different

Liverpool bbc or bbb (can’t read my writing!)
lancaster bbc
swansea ccc
birmingham bbb
York bbc
leicester ccd
reading ccd
loughborough bbb
Sussex ccc

RonnSeall · 15/03/2026 19:06

Oh and
Nottingham bbc
southampton bbc-bcc

clary · 15/03/2026 19:14

@RonnSeall some of those clearing offers are low! York, Lboro and Brum for example.

DD did Eng lit and I recall seeing York in clearing that year offering AAA (which seemed ridiculous to me; if you had AAA you would probably be happily accepted by your first choice for Eng lit unless it was Oxford! DD's Warwick offer was AAB after all, but hey).

Shoudl add DD took A levels in 2019. Much has changed since then.

RonnSeall · 15/03/2026 19:42

@claryyes they were very low, the standard offer for those courses was either AAB or ABB when DS applied. I think Reading was the lowest standard offer at BBB.

I'd think it would be probably. Geography seemed to be in clearing at lots of unis last year (2025). Tbh even Economics & Finance was in clearing at Bristol last year though only one grade drop.

Durham quite clever as I think they take lowered offers on their insurance applicants. A person turned down at Exeter with ABC or maybe even BBC for Business, was accepted at Durham (there was definitely at least one B and a C)!!

Many of the Russel Groups had clearing offers for Econ - which is often one of the most competitive courses: Cardiff, York, Southampton, Nottingham. Nottingham went quickly as did Loughborough. Cardiff, York, Southampton, Lancaster, Southampton had various Econ courses in clearing for several days. I'd say Geo less competitive!

But that was last year (though similar picture the year before)!

ArchitectureMum · 18/03/2026 06:17

Bristol geography is currently showing as available via extra. She could call them to check how likely she is to be offered and then decline all her offers and apply there now. It would mean she didn’t have an insurance.

Treylime · 18/03/2026 09:59

DS has applied for Geography for sept 26 one of his his offers is for Bristol.
He has the standard non contextual offer of AAA but he isn't at all confident of getting this. Does anyone know how likely he is to get in if he slips a grade?

Last year I know someone who did have a dropped grade (possibly even 2, but not 100% sure). Person was non-contextual from a private school.
