WIWIKAU Facebook Page - Harsh admin!

Has anyone else experienced being chucked off and also blocked from the facebook page WIWIKAU? It's an incredibly useful page and I'm disappointed I don't have it anymore when none of my children have gone to uni yet! I have shared many a time a link to a more suitable group for Performing Arts chats but this is clearly very offensive to the admins on this group that they take such harsh treatment without any gentle warning even! I have another facebook account which I tried to join on and see they have added a box with a question 'what does statement 3 say' and for this answer you are meant to write 'not share links to other sites' I've also been blocked from there too by querying my blocking! Absolutely bizarre behaviour for a group that everyone should be able to help every poster on!

it has a massive membership

RokaRocker · 13/03/2026 19:52

If it is their group and they set the rules why is it wrong? Surely their group, their rules and people don’t have to join or stay if they don’t agree.

SimplySandy · 14/03/2026 16:48

Oh, that’s really crap. I’ve posted the link to the Harassed Performers Parents group there and not been chucked out yet. I had no idea I wasn’t allowed to do that. Guess I’ll PM it to people in future! Hopefully you can message the admin and get back in.

I still can't understand why people use Facebook. Too many people spread lies on there. Keeping in touch with family and friends I see that. But some of the stuff people tell me about is horrible. When Facebook took over Friends Reunited it spiralled into something I don't understand. Zuckerberg is a billionaire who doesn't care about the hurt his product causes. I know people will come on here and say different. But I don't understand the attraction.

There’s loads of really useful groups on there - for example, the ones mentioned in this post - and you just can’t get the wealth of resources and information available in these groups from anywhere else. I guess if you’re not on it, you wouldn’t know that.

Doseofreality · 14/03/2026 16:56

The admins on there are deranged, especially one with the initials SY who seems to think she’s the expert on everything because her daughter did a nursing degree 😂

I've clearly linked to Harassed Perf Parents too many times but no so much of a warning! I also didn't realise it was such a crime but I noticed when I tried to sign up on another Facebook account I have that there is now a box which says 'Please type what statement 3 says' and you have to type that you don't share other groups. I don't recall this when I originally signed up a year ago. Also a reminder into the group wouldn't go amiss!
So I can't contact admin as they've blocked me which means I can't even find the group any longer. They also blocked my other account as I queried it in one of the boxes to try and communicate with them

I'm glad I'm not the only one to think like this about them as I think they are utterly crazy and clearly love the power!

Ugh! Sorry. That’s so frustrating. 😡

I should not want to be back on there but it was incredibly useful, especially the things that pop up that you don't know about!

I was also banned after linking a uni parents FB group, but they did let me back in when I asked nicely and promised not to do it again!

I think I got banned for the same thing. Where do I ask nicely?

If you’re blocked like I am then you can’t even find the page to write to them! I tried to speak to them through another Facebook account I have and they blocked that one too!

I couldn’t even ask as they blocked me which meant I couldn’t contact them. I can’t believe they don’t offer a warning at least

Well at least I know why now.

Nosejobnelly · 21/03/2026 10:51

I’ve been on wiwikau on and off for years. I’m on a few FB groups for various things and I find the admins do get totally power crazed on a lot of them and offshoot groups are then formed. I know of ‘spies’ infiltrating other similar groups etc for a health conduit have, it’s crazy.
I’ve only been chucked off one though!

HappyLimeMentor · 01/04/2026 21:21

Same thing happened to me. I'd been an active contributor for about a year (hence hadn't recently reviewed the rules) then someone asked about the uni my son was at. I said they had a FB page (but didn't post a link to it) and was kicked off straight away. When I asked why by DM, they sent me a reply snotty reply then blocked me. Can't believe that other parents would treat people like that! Especially when they themselves know what it feels like to be a parent of a young one at uni.

Wow! they are actually crazy aren't they! What is a point in an information sharing group where you can't share useful information! At least you managed to DM them though as I couldn't as they blocked me straight away so I never even got a warning!

From their perspective it isn't an information sharing group, its a money making vehicle

KeeepWalking · 10/04/2026 06:37

I was banned from the Facebook group for sharing a link to the Oxford Brookes parents group in DDs first year. Made me so cross!

It’s just such an over reaction isn’t it and feels so childish! Given that the group is about helping adults navigate the best information for their situations

It's odd because a thread yesterday about car insurance didn't get modded and it mentioned specific companies and a Facebook page for a uni. I guess it depends on what they are interested enough themselves to look at!

The ability to post as 'anonymous member' on there recently has actually made it more bitchy and sniping , too more like MN!

Piggywaspushed · 13/04/2026 18:46

The new thing seems to be posting people's innocuous questions ( eg is there a support group anywhere for Anytown University?) and then immediately turning off comments! I mean, really, what is the point of that!?

EnchantedDaydream · 13/04/2026 19:00

I went on their support page for DD's uni it was a tumbleweed zone. Whereas the FB group set up by some parents is much more useful.

It doesn’t seem to serve the purpose it should does it!
