Dd is Year 13 and has always struggled to finish the questions in the time allowed. During Year 12 the feedback was always "you're learning how to do them so it's expected you won't finish them" Now we're in Year 13 and it's become a problem as she can't finish in time. We've discussed what's going wrong and it's partly due to her hand cramping up because she's writing for dear life to get all the info down.
She's doing lots of practice as per the advice from her tutors and always comes up against this issue.
Her knowledge is excellent so it's not that that's causing the issue.
She has broken things down and worked to strict essay plans and still this happens
I'm at a loss as what else to suggest at this late point, maybe dilute the info a bit to allow time to finish up but then lose marks on content?
If we'd have known about this earlier I could have maybe tried to organise more time using a computer( she can finish the essays in good time this way) but it's too late
Any advice or ideas greatly appreciated

Great news! So pleased for your DD. What evidence did they require? And do you mind me asking what was the assessment? Battling to get extra time for my DD despite what I imagine is a mountain of evidence showing she has never got close to finishing essay-type answers in normal time.

Her teachers allowed her to finish any timed essays in class but would switch to a different colour pen at the end of the time to show how much more she had written after the time was up
Attribute set assessments for extra time in UK GCSE, A-Level, and similar exams are designed to evaluate a candidate’s "speed of working" to determine if they meet the criteria for Access Arrangements, primarily managed under Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) guidelines. These assessments must prove that a student is at a "substantial disadvantage" compared to peers, often requiring standardized scores below a certain threshold.

The above is the assessment she did and I think that's all they needed because she scored below average in all areas
Good Luck!

This is what the assessment tested. Not our results but an image I found to show you

In terms of the hand cramps has anyone suggested exercises to help hands. My daughters both struggle with their hands with writing and playing musical instruments.

my youngest is under OT and they recommended therapy putty to help strengthen hands. Both of my girls use it and find it’s helping.
