parental savings and student loans

hi my 17 year old is planning on going to uni this September and im wondering if parents savings affect dc qualifying for student finance. I am a single parent, and currently unemployed but a full time carer to my terminally ill parent who also has dementia.
I am fortunate enough to have savings of almost £30 from an inheritance. I do not claim any benefits and am living off these savings plus carers allowance of £83 per week. I am worried these savings will affect my dc qualifying for student finance. I cannot find any information on this online other than income from savings are taken into account but does the actual savings itself count?

Funnily enough I was looking this up this afternoon as DD will be doing Y4 in September.
Each country of the UK has it's own system so it's worth looking at the relevant student finance calculator on gov.UK as that explains in more detail and gives you an idea of what they'd get.
I can tell you that for England, it's only income that's included in the calculation but that would include interest from savings not the actual savings themselves.

No, parental savings are not asked about, it is only income.

Assets and savings are not. Sounds like your income means that your YP will get full maintenance loan. My DD gets close to full, and with earnings from her summer job she doesn’t need any money from me (I do pay for her phone) even though her catered halls were over £10k. They should tick ‘share with university’ on the SFE form as there may be grants or bursary automatically given to those on low incomes.

Thank you all for your responses it is peace of mind dc wont be hampered by my circumstances. Extremely bright straight A (doesn't take after me!) dc has applied to a Russell group uni in our city so may still live at home but is considering the possibility of staying in halls for the full uni experience and also to gain a bit of a social life which they are currently lacking. Nice to know this is possible for them. It will do dc good and may help dc to be away from the extremely difficult family circumstances that we know lie ahead this year.
