Less than you think! See the inventory list eg my DD’s halls provided a lamp and bin plus had duvets and pillows on request.

check bed size then duvet, pillows and 2 sets of sheets and covers, 2 sets of towels. Bin and lamp if not provided.
Tissues, basic first aid kit plus basic meds and if on prescription meds, as many months as the dr will give in advance.

If they have an en-suite loo rolls, bathroom bin, cleaning supplies for bathroom.

toiletries and sanitary supplies. Washing capsules, washing basket.

frying pan, medium and small lidded saucepans (bonus if they nest) wooden spoon, tin opener, slice, cooking knives (they definitely should keep in room for safety reasons unless the kitchen has locked cabinets) chopping board, peeler, grater, jug, kitchen roll and washing up liquid, tea towels x2.

mine also took a mini rice cookers, plastic storage containers, various baking equipment, multi cooker etc but dd2 wanted loads then passed to dd1 (went later long story)

If they take a bin a.k.a vom bucket - solid plastic, size that fits under a tap.

Whoever recommended the Dunelm £3 cheese grater, thanks! It’s great and saves on mess.
Not long now….
