Study Abroad - Private Health Insurance?

My DS is studying in Spain for a year and has a GHIC, but I'm wondering if we should also consider private medical insurance, including repatriation? He is (touch wood) healthy and has no pre-existing conditions, but doesn't speak much Spanish (course taught in English). I have had quotes of around £150 per month - we are far from wealthy but I would spend this for peace of mind potentially. Any thoughts/recommendations for suitable cover would be gratefully received. Thanks!

We didn’t for DD in Switzerland and Italy. Plus he needs to learn some Spanish pdq. We decided we would pay up if need be but of course we didn’t have to.

That’s high @Sandalshaming. DD has just returned from a 2 country YA that included Spain, and one non-EU. We used April International. Paid circa £300 for the year, full works including repatriation. They paid out promptly for consult and meds after she fell sick on a short break to Marrakech, no quibble.

Check out "Backpacker Insurance" on the comparison sites.

Much cheaper than £150 per month although there are limitations on how often you can travel back to the UK.

DC2 is currently studying abroad. Their uni is providing insurance. The same thing happened with DC1 who was at a different uni and also went abroad to study.
