Hi
Has anyone got DC at Rose Bruford college? DD is looking for 2026 entry and we wondered if anyone has any thoughts about it? She would be looking at backstage courses not acting.

My younger DD went there for a similar degree. The college is in serious financial difficulties and they merged some courses after she left. Her teaching was quite poor on the whole. No support or contacts in finding work, even work experience she had to find herself.

She did an MA afterwards elsewhere in an attempt to make herself employable.

For technical eg lighting it’s OK. For design related I would look elsewhere.

That's interesting. She's looking at prop and set making....

DD had friends on that course and they are still working in the field.

Rose has good facilities and she may prefer a theatre school to an art college as my DD did. In hindsight for my DD that was probably a disadvantage.

I would advise your DD to look elsewhere as well and particularly colleges that have good links or partnerships with potential employers.

Maybe look for theatre company apprenticeships? Royal Ballet and Opera have them. I suspect others do too.

Ds is hoping to go for lighting, assuming he gets the grades.
We have friends who have a ds there doing set design and he's been absolutely loving it. She says it's small enough it feels quite family in some ways, but big enough that they meet a lot of different people. He's had some good opportunities from there too.

That's great to hear!
She went for an.open day and decided It was the place for her! Now to hope she gets an interview and an offer!
She's looking for apprenticeships too, but not sure she would afford to live!!!!

Dd2 was like that with Chichester. She just loved the open day there and it went straight to her top choice (Musical Theatre).

I just spoke to my daughter she said to go for it as her friends on the course have done well and there was some great teaching when they were there. Also a great vibe.
