Postgrad Accommodation - Edinburgh - any experience?

Dd has been accepted for a Masters at Edinburgh Uni. She's been in Belgium to date so my recent knowledge of UK system is pretty much zero. I understand she can apply tor student finance as home fees (under the withdrawal agreement - thanks Brexit) which will cover tuition but it looks like we will have to pay accommodation etc. I was expecting expensive but £££££. Anyone have knowledge of the Uni accommodation in Edinburgh?

My DC was in Deaconess when it was still undergrad - and it was bloody expensive then. In the modern bit in a flat of 5, and for some reason had been allocated a bedroom with a wet room (which was huge). I remember the room itself wasn’t huge. It was well placed for town and the main campus.

There are some cheaper private rentals but you need to look around (DD paid £475 pm + bills in the Old Town and BF paid £650pm including all bills out nearer Kings). Would she consider being a resident assistant in uni halls (you used to only pay 25% rent in return for some work - my DD did this for 2 years but wouldn't recommend if you have a full on course). Might be worth joining the parents of edinburgh uni students facebook group and Meadowshare. No longer a member but there were useful for spaces in flats.

There are some midmarket housing associations too but not sure they take students (and locations more Leith/North or West)

There are specific postgrad uni halls. One of ds friends had a self contained studio near the Meadows in one. Otherwise the uni has flats to rent under “Domus” which tend to be cheaper than private rentals for which she could register and a flatshare site for vacancies with other students. Meadowshare facebook group is where groups advertise for sharers or vacancies when they leave.

Thanks for the suggestions! I looked at the Residents Assistants - but dd hasn't lived in UK since she was 2, has never been to Scotland, and has not lived in shared Uni accommodation - so probably not one for her 😃It's a great idea though. The FB groups are really useful. If she goes for it, I will probably suggest she tries for Uni accommodation if possible as she will most likely have enough to cope with acclimatising back to the UK. She does have an NI number though. It's a fantastic opportunity at a great Uni so I will facilitate the ££££ if needed, but I have a secret hankering after the much cheaper EU alternatives if maybe not quite so prestigious. I did say to her that if she had done her BA in UK she'd now have a debt of £40k or so. She was agog. Tuition in Belgium is 800 euros a year. Her current flatshare is 600 euros a month.
