I have just found out i am around 5 weeks pregnant. I am currently in my last year of uni as a student nurse. Im on a 14 week placement with 10 weeks to go. Im looking for advice from anyone who has experienced this? Ive applied for a job and should get an interview soon although I would be due baby in December. Really just looking for similar situations as im nervous about my career.

I am now 35. Aged 19 in my first year I got pregnant. I carried on as nurses do work pregnant. I was a January intake worked til December on placement at 38 weeks pregnant then went on for mat leave and jumped onto the seotemver intake they paid extra and nursery. Being in your last year you will carry on as a pregnant student and rather than starting work you will have unpaid maternity leave as you need to work in a job for 6 months before mat leave and then get a job when your ready. Options are yours. have an abortion and carry on with course and go straight into work afterwards.

Option 2 keep baby carry on and have time of with no mat pay until your ready to get your first job.

Option 3 keep baby have short time of and go straight to work so your earning.

I did ok but I was still on my 1st year.

What are your concerns OP?
You don’t have to disclose that you are pregnant at interview. If you want to proceed with the pregnancy, you could still start a new job in this time.

I think you have to let your placement know so that they can ensure your safety eg not exposed to patients with chicken pox or slapped cheek which can cause miscarriage.

Go and speak to your personal tutor asap tell him the information. You won’t be the first, so they can give you way more options.

A Girl on my course had twins. She graduated at the same time as we did. You’ll be fine!

You must do this. They need to know ASAP. They also need to do a pregnancy risk assessment for you.
