Finance for long degrees question

May be a stupid question- DD has applied for a 5 year degree (MFL, Scotland) and I was thinking about finance - can you get loans for 5 years? It's hard to find info on the year abroad cost - I assume if working overseas there are no/limited tuition fees but there are still living costs obviously. Can anyone advise? TIA

Yes you do - although how the funding works for study abroad year will vary slightly uni to uni, so they should ask early doors about that.

At my dds uni there is a minimal cost for the work experience year abroad but she will be WORKING so that will cover her living expenses.

Thanks all. Yes the year abroad for MFL is a bit murky finance-wise it seems - there are options to study or work - I’d prefer her to work to earn money but not sure this is possible in Europe anymore… I have no idea. The university websites say very little about this. She has an offer holder day soon at one of her choices (not Scotland) so it’ll be something to ask I guess! 5 years seems very long & very expensive!
