Middle rank unis with strong Biomed/Biosciences depts?

Dont really know which of the 'mid pack' unis have strong Biomed / Biology departments, welcome some thoughts.

For context, thought it was easier to create a fresh thread for this . . .Not sure about others, but about now A Level mocks have been taking place and I guess some folks are not seeing the grades they hoped for (or are needed for their uni offers for this summer). My youngest is one of those, needs As getting Cs

So, looking for some Biomedical Sciences, possibly Microbiology options for to consider for Clearing this summer - need to do it now in case we need to visit anywhere we haven't been to yet (like Royal Holloway, Nottingham Trent), Clearing would be stressful enough without knowing the unis

Those two would be decent. Also UEA, Liverpool possibly.

Lincoln scores highly in student satisfaction. Also offers biomed.

Have you thought about paying for revision courses during Easter? My DC went from a B in Maths to an A. It was a 5 day course and was excellent. About 2k all in as we had to book accommodation for a week but it was money well spent as he got the A in Maths he needed.

DD2 did biomed at NTU, loved the city, enjoyed the course and did well enough to get a place on a genuinely world-renowned (in that field) Masters course.

The year in industry also helped her decide what she did not want to do as a career (namely, be a biomedical scientist with the NHS), although doing a 4-year course.is.optional.

Be aware that Cleaning actually starts in July - although only post -A Level students can apply. Not all unis will put up their grade requirements this early but it would give you the chance to look in depth at those who do and be ready on results day if needed.

Last year solid mid rankers like Bangor, Essex, Aber, MMU, NTU, were all offering places in Early Clearing

Leicester University has a medical school plus biomedical science courses. It sits as neither an ex-poly nor RG so may fit your bill as middle rank.

We went to Swansea Uni open day for Biochem (in what turned out to be a Biomed/Chem/Genetics talk). The lady leading the parents session seemed to suggest that they were pretty flexible re grades achieved "phone us; don't rule us out".

Surrey offered DD BBB, so I think that will be our insurance place, but we do have Swansea as a reserve.

Quite a few Unis seemed to also offer "Foundation Year" courses.

Dundee is excellent for biomedical sciences but only requires CCC at A Level for entry into first year of the 4 year course. Higher grades are required if you want direct entry to second year.
