Won’t have an actual TV, but laptop/phone. Possibly to watch iPlayer? Or what might you watch that necessitates a TV licence?
thanks for any help

Our records show you’ve used BBC iPlayer on a number of occasions over recent weeks wonder what records those are then ? 😂

I don't know anyone who did buy one, ds1 certainly didn't.

I remember in our halls we had a TV in the kitchen but when the TV licence people came round we just claimed it wasn't ours.

Logging into iplayer

they are right. I almost never watch TV in either house but on probably a few occasions I have used iplayer in my flat. My DS was watching Dr Who finale and I knew he would want to discuss it and so watched it- got the warning email. I have probably used player live 5 times this year at my 2nd address and each time received the email posted above.

My dd just didn't watch any bbc at all or watch any live TV when she was in halls. It's not that difficult, they have enough other TV as well as other stuff going on.

If your permanent home has a TV Licence then you can view anywhere using a device powered by its own internal batteries.

Or as TV Licensing put it:

"Do I need a TV Licence to watch Sky on my mobile phone?
If you’re using a mobile device powered solely by its own internal batteries – like a mobile phone – you will be covered by your home’s TV Licence.
However, if you’re away from home and plug your phone into the mains and use it to watch live on any channel, pay TV service or streaming service, including Sky, you need to be covered by a separate TV Licence at that address".

Ours never did, but then they didn't watch live TV
