Combined degrees

My DD is going to Durham to study Sociology. There is a combined honours degree where you can add a second and even third subject. She's considering adding History (this is not a given, she'd have to apply to change her subject with no guarantee), but she wonders if that weakens her prospects for getting on a Masters in Sociology course? She'd be aiming to go to LSE or similar. She's checked entry requirements and they say 'a first or high second degree in a social science'. They say that related degrees may count if they have a strong sociology component but point out that the course(s) is very competitive. It does seem she should stick to a single subject but does anyone have any experience in applying for a masters at a competitive uni with a joint degree?
Also, can you apply to as many Masters programs you want or is it limited (or is it such an arduous process people tend to only apply to X amount)?

You can apply to as many Masters programmed ad you like.

Your question about LSE ‘s Masters in Sociology is excellent. The most accurate answer will be obtained uf your DD emails the relevant admissions tutor or course leader, whose contact info should be available on the website. They won’t think less of her for doing this, quite the contrary.
