Physio degree in NI

So dc is heading into final year of gcse's. Hoping to do mix A levels and Btec to apply to ulster for physio degree. He isn't at a grammar school (big thing in NI) and isn't going to have the top grades - though hopefully meeting the required grades set by the uni for the degree.
He is thinking of what will make his application more appealing. He is applying to be a lifeguard and coaching little ones on sport in his spare time.
Does anyone have any experience of what would help him look invested in being a physio? Should he look for specific work experience?

I think that the lifeguard and coaching would be great experience. He could focus on health and safety, safe play and safeguarding. There won't be many 18 year olds with experience of physio therapy.

He could contact a sports clinic and ask either could he speak to a physio or sit in on a session. But might be a long shot.

Several of the HSC trusts in N Ireland offer work experience in a range of professions for 15-18 year olds. If you do a Google on “shadowing physiotherapist in [name of your local trust]” you should be able to find info on what’s available in your area. Being able to write about it in a personal statement will demonstrate interest and knowledge.

Remember, though, that it is 'what I learned from this experience', not 'I did this...'. The PS element of the UCAS application is changing this year, but I think this is still relevant to one of the sections in the new version.
